Abstract We have studied the photocatalytic performance of ZnO, Er:ZnO, hybrid Ag/ZnO, and Ag/Er:ZnO colloidal nanoparticles (NPs) synthesized by pulsed laser ablation stoichiometric targets silver plate in double distilled water. The x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed polycrystalline structure ablated NPs. morphology was examined transmission electron microscope (TEM). optical properties prepared NPs were investigated UV-visible absorption photoluminescence spectroscopies. photodegradation Rhodamine 6G organic dye utilized to evaluate activity produced under illumination UV light. showed enhanced efficiency 96.4%, after 45 min irradiation, compared 79.7% pristine ZnO obtained results point out enhancing effect dopants on further demonstrate bulk materials pure water as a fast eco-friendly technique for producing efficient nanoparticle photocatalysts.

Poultry slaughterhouse wastewater (PSW) has substantial organic load and nutrient contents, which must be removed before discharge due to being sanitary environmental hazards. The present study is the first analyze individual synergistic influences of combined hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), different ultraviolet lights (UV-A/UV-C), inorganic compound catalysts titanium zinc oxides (TiO2/ZnO), ultrasound (US) processes on ammonia phosphorus elimination from PSW using a Taguchi L36 orthogonal array. results showed that, compared other in isolation, integrated process H2O2, US, heterogeneous photocatalysis (HPC) significantly more effective at treating terms N4 + -N removal (52.0%) PO4-P (59.5%). Furthermore, electrical energy consumption 2.67 g-1 US$ 2.14 was determined most significant factor operating cost system, while average chemical under optimal conditions 0.34 US$/g. In general, indicate that effectiveness removing pollutants directly influenced by pH, catalyst concentration, duration operation. Additionally, presence types real might lead reduced efficiencies.
