Viewing

Abstract
Teachers
who
know
what,
how
and
why
to
teach
are
essential
for
successful
student
learning.
However,
many
preservice
teachers
(PSTs)
lack
teaching
experience
the
ability
integrate
theory
practice.
To
help
bridge
this
gap,
study
employed
a
learning‐by‐design
project
approach
in
which
22
Korean
PSTs
developed
lesson
plans
middle
school
English
classes,
constructed
virtual
classrooms
metaverse
based
on
their
plans,
conducted
microteaching
classrooms.
The
used
qualitative
research
method
focused
an
emic
perspective
with
multiple
data
sets,
including
PSTs'
reflection
papers
post‐interviews
as
primary
data,
recordings
of
secondary
data.
results
showed
that
supported
learning
by
design,
it
also
helped
understand
learners
learning,
redefine
teacher's
role
designer
facilitator,
connect
theories
practice
improve
skills.
