BackgroundDetection of K. pneumoniae superbugs carrying Extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) and Carbapenemase resistance genes among hospitalized patients is crucial for infection control prevention. The aim this molecular study was to investigate the spread ESBL Carbapenemase-producing in two hospitals located Southwest Iran.MethodsOne hundred clinical isolates were randomly collected from over a period five months, November 2023. confirmed using biochemical genotypic tests. According CLSI 2022 guidelines, that exhibited at least one three indicator cephalosporins or carbapenems selected evaluation carbapenemase production. This done combination disk confirmatory test modified carbapenem inactivation method (mCIM). Finally, presence ESBLs encoding assessed PCR specific primers.ResultsOut 100 isolates, percentage antibiotic cefoxitin (29 %), cefixime (28 ceftazidime (26 cefotaxime (24 cefepime (22 ceftriaxone (21 imipenem (20 meropenem (17 %). Additionally, thirty isolated strains found be multidrug-resistant. Out these, twenty-seven demonstrated potential ESBLs, twenty Carbapenemase, seventeen both Moreover, occurrence as follows: blaSHV (25 blaTEM (23 blaCTX-M blaOXA-48 blaVIM (13 It important mention we did not detect blaIMP blaKPC. resistant isolates.ConclusionBased on results, existence type hospital centers needs reevaluated terms empirical prescribing. it recommended measures should taken public health. Also, it's suggested hospital-acquired infections caused by superbug addressed.
