In the past decade, microplastics (MPs) have drawn significant attention as widespread environmental contaminants, with research increasingly highlighting their harmful effects on respiratory health in aquatic and terrestrial organisms. Findings revealed human lung tissues, raising concerns about potential role damaging tissue integrity contributing to pulmonary fibrosis-a chronic inflammatory condition characterized by scarring of epithelial tissues due accumulated extracellular matrix, triggered factors such alcohol, pathogens, genetic mutations, pollutants. this review, we explore both well-studied lesser-studied mechanisms signaling pathways, aiming shed light how might act mediators that activate distinct, often overlooked cascades. This review searched PubMed Google Scholar using keywords like "plastic," "microplastic," "lung fibrosis," "pulmonary system," "exposure route," "signaling pathways," combined "OR" "AND" singular plural forms. These pathways could not only induce damage but also play a development fibrosis. be targeted reduce microplastic-induced fibrosis, opening new avenues for future treatments.

Microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs) pervade both the environment food chain, originating from degradation of plastic materials various sources. Their ubiquitous presence raises concerns for ecosystem safety, as well health animals humans. While evidence suggests their infiltration into mammalian human tissues association with several diseases, precise toxicological effects remain elusive require further investigation. MPs NPs sample preparation analytical methods are quite scattered without harmonised strategies to exist at moment.A significant challenge lies in limited availability chemical characterization quantification these contaminants. can undergo degradation, driven by abiotic or biotic factors, resulting formation cyclic linear oligomers. These oligomers serve indicative markers exposure NPs. Moreover, recent finding concerning aggregation form NPs, makes analysis very important.Recent advancements have led development sensitive robust identifying (semi)quantifying environmental, food, biological samples. offer a valuable complementary approach determining assessing risk environment.

Microplastics, primarily derived from plastic waste, are pervasive environmental pollutants found across aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. This review investigates microplastics’ presence, distribution, impacts in marine ecosystems, with a particular focus on fish species. Research indicates that microplastics present various anatomical parts of fish, including the gastrointestinal tracts gills, significant implications for biodiversity human health through seafood consumption. The also highlights sources microplastics, such as synthetic textiles, packaging, personal care products, explores pathways which these particles enter environments. Advanced detection techniques have identified tissues, underscoring urgency addressing this threat. Comprehensive strategies essential to mitigate microplastic pollution protect both life health.

The increasing awareness of the potential health risks associated with microplastics' (MPs) and nanoplastics' (NPs) presence in environment has led to a significant rise research focused on these particles over past few years. This review focuses MPs'/NPs' spread, pathways exposure, toxicological effects human legal framework related MP/NP challenges. Several projects have aimed assess their harm health, focusing different systems organs. After exposure (independent pathway), hazards reach blood stream concentrate Further, they are responsible for harmful changes, having an immediate effect (pain, inflammation, or hormone imbalance) lead long-term disease (e.g., infertility, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cancer). Toxicological been noticed at high concentrations MPs, specifically polystyrene, most widespread typical MP, but only short-term mostly studied. Significant quantities consumed MPs discovered diverse detrimental effects, posing threat welfare. exact microplastics that inhaled swallowed then build up body still not known.
