Introduction How to adapt the curriculum of medicine, pharmacy, and biomedical sciences prepare future health professionals meet challenge maintaining quality care in a period socio-ecological crisis? Addressing connections between humanity sustainable environment should include an analysis reciprocal influence various ecosystems, since it is now clear that healthcare systems have impact on ecosystems vice versa. Here, we propose integrating United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into could be first step such transversal education. Methods Members faculty medicine at University Namur, Belgium, including teaching staff department psychology, were invited respond anonymously questionnaire about their views feasibility SDGs teaching. A subsequent survey students’ perceptions was conducted by student representatives. Results Seventy-nine percent surveyed members medical believe possible integrate lectures. However, 44–86% them did not know how each individual goal. 94.4% students would like play greater role education; 64.4% existing modules; 23.9% create optional module, 11.9% mandatory module. Conclusion integration perceived as challenging dense program. To clarify can translate traditional lectures, provide for SDG targeted applications bachelor’s, master’s continuing

Collagen is a non-toxic polymer that generated as residual product by several industries (e.g., leather manufacturing, meat and fish processing). It has been reported to be resistant bacteria have excellent retention capacity. However, the recovered collagen does not meet requirements used for pharmaceutical medical purposes. Due scarcity of water resources now affecting all continents, pollution major concern. Another field could integrate by-product wastewater treatment. Applications collagen-based materials in treatment discussed detail, comparisons with already frequently made. Over last years, tested removal both organic substances, dyes) inorganic compounds heavy metals, noble uranium). They also manufacture oil-water separation materials; therefore, they emulsified oily wastewater. Because analysed wide range good candidates removing contaminants from streams seasonal variations composition concentration. The use makes method eco-friendly cost efficient. This paper discusses some challenges related treatment: material stability, reuse disposal. results showed are renewable reusable without significant loss initial properties. In sorption processes, incorporation experiments real demonstrated there competition among substances present sample.
