Rivers are often contaminated with metals. This study was conducted on the Jempul River in Jengka, Pahang, Malaysia, due to agricultural activities carried out along this river. The aims investigate levels of certain metals (namely Al, Fe, Mn, and Pb), identify their likely sources, assess toxicity loads, estimate associated health risks. Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) used determine metal concentrations. concentrations were discovered following order: Fe > Al Mn Pb, for both dry wet conditions. highest concentration water sample observed (1.28 mg/l) condition lowest detected Pb (0.04 condition. Principal component analysis (PCA) indicated that originate from natural anthropogenic sources. Based load (MTL) calculations, it is recommended approximately 73% 60% 58% be eliminated river ensure its safety. Children more susceptible non-cancer cancer hazards than adults. suggests extensive exposure assessment detailed monitoring quality indicators should out.
