Abstract Anaesthetics are used daily in human and veterinary medicine as well scientific research. have an impact on cell homeostasis especially through modulation of protein post-translational modifications. O-GlcNAcylation, a ubiquitous modification, plays role many biological processes. The aims this study were to evaluate whether (1) anaesthesia influences O-GlcNAcylation (2) its stimulation affects physiological parameters. Male Wistar rats (n = 38) anaesthetized with ketamine-xylazine or isoflurane. They randomly received either intravenous injection Ringer's lactate NButGT (10mg/kg) order increase levels. One hour after induction anaesthesia, haemodynamic parameters plasmatic markers evaluated. Heart, brain lungs harvested levels O-GlcNAc-related enzymes evaluated by western blot. Cardiac pulmonary cardiac, cerebral O-GlcNAc associated enzyme expression not impacted anaesthesia. Compared ketamine-xylazine, isoflurane had lower blood pressure, heart rate glycaemia. Pharmacological did affect the This offers unprecedented insights into regulation related during over 1-h period disrupt balance healthy rats.
