Semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) may serve as signal transducers for nanobiosensors. Recent studies have developed innovative methods of engineering molecularly specific sensors, while others devised deploying such sensors within live animals and plants. These advances potentiate the use implantable, noninvasive biosensors continuous drug, disease, contaminant monitoring based on optical properties (SWCNTs). Such tools substantial potential to improve disease diagnostics, prognosis, drug safety, therapeutic response, patient compliance. Outside clinical applications, also in environmental or research lab. However, work remains be done realize these goals through further materials science engineering. Here, we review current landscape quantitative SWCNT-based that been deployed living plants animals. Specifically, focused this deploy vivo well analytes detected by SWCNTs vivo. Finally, evaluated future directions take advantage promise outlined here toward field-deployable implantable patients.
