Perceptions of food safety in a post-communist context: the role of disinformation and regulatory trust DOI

Purpose This study investigates public perceptions of food safety in the Czech Republic, particularly focusing on role disinformation and trust regulatory frameworks. Design/methodology/approach The research, based a nationwide survey 2,729 respondents, explores how different information sources, including search engines, social networks traditional media, influence safety. Quota sampling was used to ensure demographic representation. Findings Logistic regression analysis highlights that age, gender, education level exposure significantly affect health risks from simplified imports. Older individuals, women those with lower are more likely view these imports as threat, while frequent internet users show less concern. findings highlight critical impact misinformation opinion, emphasizing need for enhanced media literacy targeted communication. Practical implications country governments should consistency quality programmes transparency their communications strengthen confidence. Hence, systematic investigation review systems updating frameworks necessary order higher food. Social research results represent valuable platform authorities well development concepts scientific literacy. Originality/value provides insights policymakers improving communication post-communist context, contributing broader discussions combating Europe.
