The current paper investigates a 6 MW grid-connected photovoltaic system model in two different countries: Canada and Egypt. analysis was conducted the frame of sustainable development feasibility assessment. countries were chosen as they have significantly irradiation levels. Two cities within each country considered for comparison. proposed is simulated under realistic conditions RETScreen. weather imported from NASA (National Aeronautics Space Administration) website. project viability has been assessed using financial indicators. Amongst them payback. Payback projects located Egypt considerably lower than Canada. payback Kharga Oasis 7.3 years. It yields reduction greenhouse gas emissions 62.7 tons CO2. low-irradiation city like Victoria 13.3 installed mitigates by 53.2 study also shows detrimental effect increasing initial cost debt term on project’s viability. outcome concludes that PV are very promising moderate can be viable northern but certain operation financing.
