Orange-fleshed sweet potato (OFSP) is a promising crop in combating vitamin A deficiencies (VAD) sub-Saharan Africa (SSA)‘s vulnerable populations and its adoption directly impacts potential benefits across the value chains. This review assessed OFSP factors advances research for increased production SSA countries. Scopus, Research Life, Google Scholars were searched to identify peer-reviewed studies published between 2000 2023 on different objectives. The systematic search resulted 22 53 studies, respectively, first second objective that met inclusion criteria. Data extracted include author year, study location, population, methodology, results, conclusion. Our indicates of influenced by six primary factors: “Knowledge awareness,” “social networks,” “agronomic traits,” “taste sensory attributes,” “health nutrition,” “market economics.” Furthermore, identified various highlighting need align breeding objectives with influencing adoption, implement optimal agronomic practices tailored local contexts, develop efficient chains targeted marketing strategies increase commercialization African underscores importance formulating objectives, techniques, line stakeholder needs ensure successful integration VAD SSA. With these insights into affecting consumption biofortified crops, new development roadmap required address evolving challenges widespread adoption.
