In the present study, different methodologies with potential scalability and environmental friendliness, such as winterization, supercritical fluid extraction, multistage distillation, were evaluated for lauric acid concentration. all cases, to facilitate fractionation, transformation of triacylglycerols into free fatty acids or ethyl esters was required a previous step. For winterization experimental assays, amount type solvent studied, resulting in product containing ~65% recovery ~81% using 1:10 oil-to-solvent ratio hexane. On other hand, extraction carbon dioxide counter current packed column at 55 °C, 115 bar, 70 g CO2/min, resulted composed ~80% ester ~85%. Finally, flash distillation analysed process simulation (Aspen Plus V14), demonstrating that this methodology can achieve 80% high purity (lauric acid: 96.7%; laurate: 97.4%), but vacuum is prevent thermal degradation 0.2 mbar; 1.1 mbar). Overall, employed proved highly efficient concentrating acid, yielding commercial interest added value.

Hermetia illucens, well-known as black soldier fly (BSF), is an insect easily found in subtropical and tropical regions. It contains high protein lipids. BSF known one of the biological agents consuming organic components, thus having a potential to overcome waste problems. has promising advantages due its long development time larval stage (compared other flies) ability self-separate from waste. with large lipid content can substitute commonly used source aquaculture, poultry livestock compound diet formulation, which be option limited sources future food feed insecurity. This review analyses latest study bioconversion using viewpoint nutrient composition, degradation rate biomass results different treatments. Various growth mediums have been studied obtain biomass. Hopefully, information will provide new research directions solutions for converting agro-industrial BSF.
