This work reports the effect of a reactive extrusion (REX) process on polylactide (PLA) based formulations plasticized with dibutyl itaconate (DBI). As DBI contains carbon-carbon double bond, it is suitable for extrusion. REX was carried out in co-rotating twin extruder addition two different organic peroxides. The main aim using during blending plasticizer PLA to improve interaction between them so obtained final properties could be improved. Plasticization allowed ductile PLA, by REX, an improvement tensile strength no remarkable change ductility. thermal characterization also revealed that glass transition temperature Tg reduced all including DBI. provided slight increase and this evident thermomechanical properties. Regarding degradation behaviour, onset maximum rate, while stability observed Finally, migration water conventional extruded PLA/DBI formulations, improved behaviour against migration.
