Polyurethanes (PU) have drawn great attention due to their excellent mechanical properties and self-healing recyclable abilities. Lignin is a natural renewable raw material in nature, composed of large number hydroxyl groups, has potential replace petroleum polyols PU synthesis. This review summarizes the recent advances modification methods such as liquefaction, alkylation, demethylation lignin, systematic analysis how improve reactivity monomer substitution lignin during polyurethane synthesis for green manufacturing high-performance polyurethanes was conducted.
