Extracellular matrices (ECMs) play a key role in nerve repair and are recognized as the natural source of biomaterials. In parallel to extensively studied tissue-derived ECMs (ts-ECMs), cell-derived (cd-ECMs) also have capability partially recapitulate complicated regenerative microenvironment native tissues. Notably, cd-ECMs can avoid shortcomings ts-ECMs. Cd-ECMs be prepared by culturing various cells or even autologous vitro under pathogen-free conditions. A functionalized chitosan thiourea composite (CH-TU) was successfully synthesized using formaldehyde as a crosslinking agent for enhancing silver recovery from different aqueous solutions. Comparison sorption studies with non-functionalized (CH-F) reference material were conducted. Grafting led to an improvement in the performances, i.e., 0.763 mmol Ag g−1 CH-F vs. 2.125 CH-TU. The pseudo-first-order rate equation (PFORE) fitted kinetics at saturation times of 40 and 30 min CH-TU, respectively, while isotherms Langmuir Sips equations both sorbents. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), nitrogen sorption–desorption (BET-surface area), elemental analysis, thermogravimetric (TGA) pH zero charge (pHpzc) used characterize investigate mechanism. Sorption performed three check reproducibility, performances stable over 20 cycles, limited decrease performance (5 3% respectively).
