Plants are a core part of cultural identity, as diet, decorations, ceremonies, or medicinal agents. Empirical knowledge regarding plants and their healing potential has existed worldwide for centuries. With the advance science technology, not only is refinement such sources isolation specific compounds possible, but these can also be characterized based on natural occurrence. Besides importance plant metabolism structure, polysaccharides have been demonstrated to substantial positive human health impacts inflammation, metabolism, oxidative stress, others. As an inherent cell walls, many from herbs, fructans, glucans, pectins, extracted analyzed structure function. However, review summarizing significant portion studies was still unavailable. This helps fill gap between polysaccharide bioactivity, matrix sources, focusing historical usage.
