Dioscorea
alata
is
major
yam
species
for
security
tropical
areas,
but
our
understanding
the
genetic
factors
underlying
tuber
culinary
traits
limited.
This
study
aimed
at
elucidating
basis
key
attributes,
including
apparent
dry
matter
content
(DM),
cooking
time,
boiled
hardness,
moldability,
through
genome-wide
association
studies
(GWAS).
Phenotypic
assessment
revealed
notable
variations
among
D.
genotypes
significant
correlations
quality
traits.
The
GWAS
identified
25
associations
distributed
across
14
chromosomes.
A
total
12,
1,
6,
6
single
nucleotide
polymorphisms
were
detected
hardness
DM.
Allele
segregation
analysis
loci
highlighted
favorable
alleles
short
good
high
DM
content.
Within
set
42
putative
candidate
genes,
we
genes
differentially
expressed
tubers
with
contrasting
attributes.
Our
offers
valuable
insights
into
links
between
these
alata.
These
findings
have
practical
implications
breeding
programs
enhancing
greater
yam.
