The search for sustainable and efficient remediation techniques is required to control increasing environmental pollution caused by synthetic dyes, heavy metal ions, other harmful pollutants. From this point of view, natural polymers like chitosan, cellulose, lignin, pectin have been found highly promising due their biodegradability, availability, possibility chemical functionalization. Natural possess inherent adsorption properties that can be further enhanced cross-linking surface activation. This review discusses the main properties, mechanisms, functional groups such as hydroxyl, carboxyl, amino responsible pollutant sequestration. paper also emphasizes effectiveness in removing metals dyes from wastewater recent advances polymer modifications, including ionic crosslinking grafting. study underlines ecological potential polymer-based adsorbents treatment protection environment a solution challenges.
