Lactobacilli, as the main member of food microorganisms, is an important component intestinal microbial community and plays crucial roles in regulating immune capacity body. This review provides a comprehensive exploration key components Lactobacilli-mediated regulation effects, including immunogenic (peptidoglycan lipoteichoic acid) metabolites (short-chain fatty acids, bacteriocins, exopolysaccharides), which can interact with host cell receptors to initiate complex signaling pathways. In addition, immunomodulatory activity be influenced by multiple factors species differences, host-related (age, physiological conditions, gut microbiota), environmental (nutrient substrates, temperatures, etc.), application strategies precision probiotic development, gene-editing driven engineering, nanocarrier systems have also been proposed enhance potential. Finally, this theoretical basis for intervention immune-related diseases offers prospects applications pharmaceutical industries.

Codonopsis pilosula polysaccharide (CPP) and rare element selenium (Se) have been proved to exert various biological activities, our previous study demonstrated that nanoparticles modified with CPP (CPP-SeNPs) possessed significantly enhanced tumor cytotoxicity in vitro. This aimed investigated the inhibitory effects of CPP-SeNPs complex on H22 solid tumors via immune enhancement. In this study, tumor-bearing mice model was constructed, potential mechanisms antitumor were further explored by evaluating cytokines expression levels, cells activities apoptotic indicators each group. The results effectively exerted dose-dependent protective organs vivo, leading increase peripheral white blood cell counts inhibition growth rate 47.18% high-dose group (1.5 mg/kg). Furthermore, treatment elevated levels TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-2 sera, NK cytotoxicity, augmented macrophage phagocytosis capacity, as well increased both amounts proliferation activity lymphocyte subsets. improved system’s ability clear up-regulating Bax while down-regulating Bcl-2 within tumors, indicating activation mitochondrial apoptosis pathway. Therefore, administration can inhibit enhancing response mice, which might be relevant regulation gut microbiota short-chain fatty acids metabolisms. These findings could provide theoretical support data foundation for development functional food drug adjuvants.
