Bioconversion of feather and production of alkaline protease for detergent and dehairing applications
Abstract
Annually
the
poultry
industry
releases
millions
of
tons
feather
waste
into
environment.
With
a
protein
content
91%,
offers
huge
potential
to
serve
as
an
animal
feed
supplement.
However,
keratin,
main
component
feather,
is
highly
resistant
hydrolysis
by
and
plant
proteases.
The
use
physicochemical
methods
hydrolyze
in
addition
being
expensive,
cause
decomposition
some
amino
acids.
Thus,
microbial
bioconversion
attractive
option
for
production
useful
products.
In
this
study,
alkaliphilic
degrading
strain,
Bacillus
pseudofirmus
BCC026
was
isolated

liquid
culture

sole

nitrogen,
it
resulted
