Soil salinization and alkalization can cause great losses to agricultural production in arid regions. Cotton, a common crop semi-arid regions China, often encounters saline stress alkaline stress. In this study, NaCl (8 g·kg−1), Na2CO3 compound material (an organic polymer material) were mixed with field soil before cotton sowing, the ion content, photosynthetic characteristics, metabolite levels of new leaves analyzed at flowering boll-forming stage, aiming clarify metabolic mechanisms by which regulates cotton’s tolerance The results showed that application led an increase K+/Na+ ratio, stomatal conductance (Gs), efficiency PSII photochemistry (ψPSⅡ), potential activity (Fv/Fo), chlorophyll content (Chla Chlb), as well abundances D-xylonic acid DL-phenylalanine treatments. Additionally, there increases K+ Chla/b net rate (Pn), transpiration (Tr), ψPSⅡ, D-saccharic abundance A correlation analysis pathway revealed mainly regulated characteristics balance through regulating key metabolites when was under or Furthermore, positive impact on stronger than tolerance.
