Photothermal superhydrophobic surfaces with micro/nano-structured morphologies have emerged as promising candidates for anti-icing and deicing applications due to their exceptional water repellency efficient solar-to-thermal conversion. These synergistically integrate the passive icephobicity of coatings active heating capability photothermal materials, offering energy-efficient environmentally friendly solutions sectors such aviation, wind energy, transportation. Hence, they received widespread attention in recent years. This review provides a comprehensive overview advances coatings, focusing on anti-icing/deicing mechanisms, surface wettability, conversion performance applications. Special emphasis is placed material categories, including metals compounds, carbon-based polymers, analyzing structural features application effectiveness. Furthermore, various fields described. Finally, perspectives future development are presented, pursuing fluorine-free, cost-effective, multifunctional meet growing demand innovative, sustainable technologies.
