Objective Anemia frequently complicates cardiovascular disease (CVD) and is associated with high mortality rates. A bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) a noninvasive method for measuring human body composition. direct association between serum hemoglobin (Hb) levels the extracellular water-to-total water (ECW/TBW) ratio, as measured by BIA in patients diabetes, has been reported. However, predictive value of ECW/TBW ratio detecting anemia CVD not fully elucidated. Methods We conducted study involving consecutive admitted to our cardiology department from January 1, 2021, December 31, 2022. was performed once during hospitalization all patients, whenever possible. The correlation Hb level assessed. accuracy evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Results significantly higher group than non-anemia (0.41 [0.40, 0.41] vs. 0.39 [0.38, 0.40], p<0.001). exhibited significant negative Hb, an R 0.57 p-value <0.01. this coefficient decreased 0.45 among subjects BNP ≥200 pg/mL. area under ROC (AUC) 0.83. its performance exceeding 200 pg/mL, AUC 0.71. Conclusion BIA-derived valuable predictor CVD, provided are elevated.
