ABSTRACT Background The COVID‐19 pandemic affected children with intellectual disabilities and their parents in numerous ways. This study investigates the impact by analysing narratives of city Guwahati, located Assam, a northeastern state India. contributes to scholarship on disability relation pandemic. It suggests central role necessity empowering them timely information training, which will help sustain uninterrupted development children. Methods employs qualitative method semi‐structured interviews. Twelve from three special schools participated this study. questions explored lived experiences children, caregiving responsibilities at home challenges they faced due disruption services during Findings Four key themes emerged study: (1) led disruptions for disabilities, (2) children's physical mobility was restricted home, could not access regular need‐based therapies or exercise social skills schools, (3) suffered psychological stress as fathom how manage (4) underwent financial hardships lack resources loss family income Conclusions Parents emphasized need regarding disability‐related measures understand deal risks Some tried engage activities home. recommends strengthening training limit negative effects issues disabilities. Future research should explore unravel positive coping mechanisms used parents.
