Previous research showed that a tsunami similar to the 1755 event would inundate Caxias’ low-ground areas in Oeiras municipality, Portugal. However, streets of downtown Caxias were not well reproduced, which is limitation area’s mitigation strategies and evacuation plan. For these reasons, new Lidar data used for first time The local topography allowed construction more accurate DEM, was numerical model update improve inundation results. As complement, field survey conducted several locations assess coastal features protection. results show up 6 m height inundated by tsunami, including residential area, road, railway. To stop waves from inundating areas, it proposed sea walls 7 third bridge over Barcarena Stream, only pedestrians, ranging 5 height, will serve as gate incoming waves. These protections should be part strategy mitigate overtopping (winter storm surges tsunamis) but also other zones.
