Abstract The structure tensor (ST), also named a second-moment matrix, is popular tool in image processing. Usually, its purpose to evaluate orientation and conduct local structural analysis. We present an efficient algorithm for computing eigenvalues linking eigenvectors of the ST derived from material structure. performance efficiency our approach are demonstrated through several numerical simulations. proposed evaluated qualitatively quantitatively using different two-dimensional/three-dimensional wood types. This article reviews properties first- second-order STs, their properties, application illustrate usefulness analyzing data. Our results demonstrate that suggested achieves high-quality trajectory high-resolution micro-computed tomography ( μ {\rm{\mu }} CT)-imaging. These orientations lead establishing description fiber states thermo-mechanical models fiber-reinforced composite materials. conclude with overview open research problem directions.

Abstract Structures featuring flexoelectric and flexomagnetic effects have great potential for the manufacture of innovative devices, such as data storage, actuators, sensors energy harvesters. To evaluate stability buckling behaviors magneto‐electric‐elastic (MEE) cylindrical shells with are investigated. A novel model is developed based on high‐order shear deformation shell theory incorporating pre‐buckling non‐uniform deformation. The critical loads mode shapes obtained by Galerkin's method involving some newly proposed trial functions. key parameters including boundary conditions, geometrical parameters, coefficients external magnetoelectric field MEE results indicate that effect enhances stresses, while weakens them. Therefore, combination magnetic electric fields provides an effective way to adjust provide a wider range control over stresses.

We introduce a new rheological nonlinear model for some granular media such as masonries. The latter may demonstrate rather complex behaviour. In fact, considering masonry one can see that relative rotations of bricks are most important in comparison with deformation themselves. As result, gets stresses and couple static characteristics medium. Using the Cosserat point approach modelling orientational interactions between elements we provide energy medium which takes into account both material geometrical nonlinearity.
