Abstract The surrounding rock of underground chamber is frequently affected by disturbance load and circulating temperature; it meaningful to study the mechanical properties under these conditions for construction a safe effective chamber. This investigates properties, failure modes, acoustic emission (AE) characteristics basalt sandstone various pretreatments, including water saturation pretreatment (rock samples [SR]), subjected cyclic temperature (SR-CTT), loading (SR-CLT), combined (SR-CTT-CLT). A series uniaxial compression tests (UCTs) were conducted analyze how pretreatments affect sandstone. These two kinds exhibit distinct SR-CLT SR-CTT-CLT make change from inclined shear X-shaped shear, while makes turn into splitting. AE data reveal that generally exhibits lower counts than sandstone, with highest observed SR-CTT-CLT. Energy analysis indicates accumulates more total energy (Et) elastic (Ee) compared different affecting dissipation (Ed) damage severity differently in each type. findings contribute understanding complex interactions between methods behavior engineering applications.

In the process of underground blasting excavation, safety and stability rock mass are significantly influenced by dynamic load. To study full-field strain displacement behaviour materials subjected to compressive force, impact tests were done on red sandstone specimens using an electromagnetically driven Hopkinson pressure bar. At same time, data collected a high-speed camera, non-contact measurements carried out with digital image correlation method. The resulting images screened analysed, based which stress-strain curve, cloud diagram obtained. Results show that peak stress increases increase velocity. During process, substantial internal uneven deformation occurs in close transmission bar's end face. Under load, cracks initiate from upper lower sides near face, followed formation middle part. These expand throughout form through-cracks, eventually complete failure. For materials, evolution their field during failure can reflect initiation propagation cracks. Therefore, use method proves effective for studying mechanisms rock. conclusions obtained this provide valuable reference macro-meso geotechnical materials.

To explore the energy damage evolution law and catastrophic failure characteristics of sandstone in Luohe Formation after thawing, uniaxial compression tests on one freeze-thaw cycle with different freezing temperatures were conducted. The mechanical properties mode thawed analyzed. Furthermore, its sensitivity to temperature during deformation investigated. Subsequently, a model was proposed predict time Formation. results showed that peak strength elastic modulus decrease temperature. modes can be classified into axial splitting failure, shear tensile-shear mixed failure. Additionally, temperature, strain release rate dissipation growth rock samples decrease. Energy process thawing is divided stages minor damage, deceleration steadily increase, accelerated sharply increase. presents clear critical power-law singularity behavior, characteristic value β roughly 0.7±0.1. prediction method yields imminent ( t f p =4.356 min) very close actual =4.376 at -10 °C, are good stable.
