The maximum gas temperature below the ceiling is an important parameter for tunnel safety. present study analyzed characteristics of excess driven by double fire sources in a naturally ventilated tunnel. A series small-scale experiments were carried out with different separation distances and heat release rates. Theoretical analysis based on equivalent virtual origin was also performed. results showed that there exists only one peak when two plumes are merged before reaching ceiling, while temperatures can be observed completely separated. gradually decreases increasing distance plume merging region (S < Scp). When increases further > Scp), effect very limited. Furthermore, model using source proposed to predict considering states. contributes understanding smoke flow fires equal rate tunnels.
