Purpose Based on the Social Exchange Theory (SET), paper attempts to extend research relationship between green self-managed teams and firm performance by exploring serial mediation of extra-role behavior environmental performance. Furthermore, via moderated mediation, study inspected differences in relationships among these variables for manufacturing service organizations. Design/methodology/approach Data 407 respondents from 122 organizations (having teams) operating India were collected using purposive sampling. Various statistical techniques like confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), correlations, multiple regressions bootstrapping employed. Findings The results indicated that served as mediators. Additionally, nature significantly several indirect relationships, with one pathway found be insignificant. Research limitations/implications may limited fact data at a single moment time rather than longitudinal design. Practical implications guides attract environmentally conscious employees promoting enrich their operations delivery through such teams. Originality/value uniquely examines how addressing issues contribute improved mutual exchanges. It also advances existing literature conducting comparative across an emerging Indian market.
