This study focusses on the preparation of silver sulphide (Ag2S) and Cu-doped Ag2S (Cu/Ag2S) nanoparticles (NPs) by sol-gel method demonstrated their photocatalytic antibacterial applications. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) analysis that prepared NPs are effectively crystallized in polycrystalline single-phase monoclinic geometry Ag2S. optical bandgap is significantly reduced, for both sample average grain size observed to have narrowed from 42 nm 23 nm. Both were confirmed be spherical nature as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive (EDX) spectroscopy validated presence all necessary components at expected concentrations obtained samples. Under irradiation sunshine, properties each investigated ability facilitate photodegradation a hazardous methylene blue (MB) dye an aqueous solution. Cu/Ag2S possesses profound reaction destruction MB dye. Furthermore, suppress proliferation Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli. In comparison pure NPs, showed enhanced activity against bacteria. Current suggests Cu doped could promising material wastewater treatment antimicrobial agents.
