Promoting the charge separation to improve photocatalytic performance of semiconductor photocatalysts is very important in field artificial photosynthesis. Here, a novel MoS2/CdS 2D–2D ultrathin nanosheet heterostructure was fabricated via one-pot solvothermal route. The obtained nanojunction has not only provided large contact areas, but also shortened transport distance, resulting significantly enhanced H2 evolution property. composites that were synthesized examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), Transmission (TEM), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS), Photoluminescence (PL) and photoelectron (XPS) analysis. By optimizing 2D MoS2 amounts heterojunction, 5 wt.% 2D/2D heterojunction displayed maximal rate 4449 μmolh−1g−1 under visible light irradiation presence lactic acid as sacrificial reagent, which 6 times higher than pristine CdS. Based on photoelectrochemical photoluminescence tests, it could be deduced transfer tremendously improved, recombination photoinduced electron-hole pairs effectively impeded. Moreover, used cocatalyst provide abundant active sites lower overpotential for generation reaction. current work would offer an insight fabricate splitting H2O into H2.
