Abstract Microbial fuel cell (MFC) technology has received increased interest as a suitable approach for treating wastewater while producing electricity. However, there remains lack of studies investigating the impact inoculum type and hydraulic retention time (HRT) on efficiency MFCs in industrial saline wastewater.
