Optimizing knowledge exploitation strategies is a crucial challenge in promoting sustainable technology development. This study investigates how innovation characteristics, inventor attributes, and network structures influence the effectiveness of these firms’ green transition efforts. Our focuses on automotive industry—a sector characterized by long development cycles, high capital intensity, strong path dependencies—as it undergoes significant towards technologies. Using patent data from Korean industry, we uncover nuanced dynamics refinement enhancement knowledge. While generally boosts innovative performance, this effect significantly stronger for innovations. Interestingly, levels experience technologies weaken positive impact exploitation—a finding that challenges conventional expectations. Network structure also plays pivotal yet often overlooked role: cohesion reduces benefits exploitation, while broad range enhances them. By shedding light hidden contributions individual inventors their networks, deepen our understanding micro-foundations within sustainability transitions. findings offer valuable insights managers seeking to enhance industries undergoing technological shifts toward sustainability. We highlight previously underappreciated conditions under which are most effective factors can be leveraged elevate performance through strategic enhancement.

To delve into the intricate dynamics of green innovation, it is imperative to establish a policy-driven innovation network and optimize its multi-entity collaborative mechanism. Given dynamic complexity technological composed multiple entities, this paper examines interactions among four subsystems based on system (SD) simulation: resource input, performance, policy-driven, digital empowerment subsystem. Furthermore, we analyze combined effects initiatives role platforms in facilitating efficiency empirical evidence. The results indicate that: (1) Government can effectively promote development by enforcing stronger environmental regulations, such as increasing carbon trading price, while enhancing emission reduction innovative products. (2) Increased per capita R&D investment, along with financial, tax, fiscal incentives for will increase rate achievements. (3) should strengthen talent policy during anticipated increases numbers reduce intensity introductions expected declines. (4) By implementing incentive policies develop S&T platforms, government broaden cooperation, promotes aggregation, leverages cohort effects.
