Flowers are the most fragile plant organ that contains a wide range of variable compounds. Due to their nutritional, pharmacological and aromatic properties, they have been used in several products, from food pharmaceutical, textile industries. The supercritical fluid extraction valuable components has highlighted literature, since advantages related protection photosensitivity, oxidizability volatility biocompounds, leading remarkable benefit method. From pigments compounds, passing through alkaloids, these compounds can be extracted tunning process conditions or using different strategies during extraction. Commercial products produced flowers this technology, such as very well-known cannabis. This review intends present literature last two decades, well challenges performing with delicate sensitive raw material: flowers.

Abstract The fascinating scent of rose (Rosa genus) flowers has captivated human senses for centuries, making them one the most popular and widely used floral fragrances. Despite much progress over last decade, many biochemical pathways responsible scents remain unclear. We analyzed compositions from various varieties selected modern cultivar Rosa hybrida “Double Delight” as a model system to unravel formation dominant volatile terpenes, which contribute substantially fragrance. Key genes involved in terpene biosynthesis were functionally characterized. Cytosolic geranyl diphosphate (GPP) generated by geranyl/farnesyl synthase (G/FPPS1) catalysis played pivotal role production, synthases roses play an important but not geraniol, citral, or β-citronellol. Subsequently, series enzymes, including geraniol dehydrogenase, geranial reductase, 12-oxophytodienoate citronellal characterized transformation β-citronellol through three successive steps. Interestingly, pathway appears be conserved other horticultural plants like Lagerstroemia caudata Paeonia lactiflora. Our findings provide valuable insights into terpenoid compounds offer essential gene resources future breeding molecular modification efforts.

Rosa chinensis cultivars with volatile aromas are important resources in the perfume industry. The four rose introduced to Guizhou province rich substances. In this study, volatiles from were extracted using headspace-solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME), and analyzed two-dimensional gas chromatography quadrupole time of flight mass spectrometry (GC × GC-QTOFMS). A total 122 identified; main compounds these samples benzyl alcohol, phenylethyl citronellol, beta-myrcene limonene. 68, 78, 71, 56 identified 'Blue River' (RBR), 'Crimson Glory' (RCG), 'Pink Panther' (RPP), 'Funkuhr' (RF) samples, respectively. contents following order: RBR > RCG RPP RF. Rose is a highly significant ornamental plant with substantial edible and medicinal value, cultivated worldwide primarily for perfume production. Recently, Rosa yangii, new species found in northwest Yunnan, China, has drawn attention due to its strong sweet scented flowers. In this study, the floral components of R. yangii were extracted at different flowering stages using solid phase micro extraction (SPME) analyzed through gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). A total 131 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) detected from R.yangii, including 69 odor compounds. The production release VOCs highest during initial-open stage, making it most suitable time harvesting as number synthesized preserved. analysis activity values (OAV) highlighted several key aromatic ingredients such eugenol, methyleugenol, benzeneacetaldehyde phenylethylalcohol, heptanal, decanal, (E)-2-hexen-1-yl acetate, caryophyllene, others. Metabolome time-order gene co-expression networks (TO-GCN) revealed that benzenoids/phenylpropanoids, along associated genes, played pivotal role overall regulatory network yangii. MYB bHLH identified essential factors governing regulation eugenol synthase (EGS) isoeugenol (IGS), consequently influencing scent findings study provide scientific foundation enhancing fragrance molecular breeding plants. Furthermore, facilitated development utilization plant's oil material various industries, food storage, aromatherapy, cosmetic, perfumery.
