In this review, the main properties of olive mill solid waste, primary by-product oil production, and its feasibility as a feedstock for anaerobic digesters operating at laboratory-, pilot- industrial-scales are discussed in detail. Nutrient addition thermal pretreatments were found to have potential address challenges arising from high carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, low pH, concentration phenolic compounds. Furthermore, co-digestion with different organic feedstocks has been identified one most promising options solve aforementioned problems seasonality nature while improving efficiency treatment plants that operate throughout whole year. The insights generated study show wastes animal farming be environmentally economically sustainable method digestion processes waste.

Biomass energy has emerged as a vital renewable source in the global transition towards sustainable development, aligning with United Nations development goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy) 13 (climate action). This study evaluates biomass energy’s contributions by integrating real SI-unit-based data on usage China, India, Denmark, Germany, Brazil, Namibia, Ghana. An interpretative review was employed, incorporating primarily qualitative analysis supplemented quantitative of deployment, cost assessments, policy evaluations. The findings reveal that contributes 8% to China’s mix (500 TWh), 12% India (370 20% Denmark (43 27% Brazil (160 yet its expansion faces economic, technological, challenges. integrates cutting-edge catalysts (e.g., ZnO, TiO2, Ni) nanotechnology applications nanocatalysts, nanomembranes) enhance efficiency. A comparative technical combustion, anaerobic digestion, pyrolysis, gasification highlights most efficient process (70–85%), lowest carbon emissions (30–50 kg CO2/GJ) but requiring higher capital investment (USD 0.07–0.14/kWh). concludes recommendations, emphasizing targeted subsidies, international collaboration, infrastructure investments improve adoption globally.

In the primary sector, roadmap to success lies in enhancing sustainability and advancing process development within framework of circular economy. However, sectors such as that olive oil have difficulty achieving these goals, but integration 2G 3G-biorefineries could allow overcome issues. this work, CO2 biogas generated from pomace was biocaptured by Chlorella vulgaris using a fed-batch strategy, which bubbled directly into culture medium recover fatty acids with potential use biofuel substrate. Results showed removal efficiency mode operation similar over 14 cycles, being approximately 83.3 ± 2.4 % an average. Moreover, methane percentage 93.09 0.87 achieved when volume increased 1.5 4.0 L. The effect supply 20 outstanding on both lipid methyl esters (FAMEs) contents. Compared air-fed photobioreactor, FAMEs productivities 5.1 4.4 times, while improved 55.75 0.93 82.62 1.24 %. profile revealed high content saturated monounsaturated acids.
