Citrus peel essential oils (CPEOs) have demonstrated substantial medicinal potential for glioblastoma treatment because of their extensive antitumor effects, low drug resistance, and ability to cross the human blood-brain barrier. In this study, chemical compositions five CPEOs were analyzed via gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). CCK8 assays used evaluate inhibit U251 cells, XLB RA selected further investigation. Through wound healing cell cycle apoptosis analyses flow cytometry, it was revealed that these inhibited migration, arrested at G1/G0, induced with similar levels inhibition. After treatment, intracellular Ca2+ content reactive oxygen species in cells increased significantly, whereas mitochondrial membrane decreased. Additionally, antioxidant enzyme system (SOD, POD, CAT, GR) nonenzymatic defense (GSH) inhibited, leading an increase lipid peroxidation. qRT-PCR indicated significant upregulation calcium ion signaling pathways apoptosis-related genes. activation calcicoptosis-related indicators by could be reversed inhibitor confirming both tumors activating pathways. These findings highlight immense healthcare pharmaceutical applications not only providing a scientific basis application but also offering new insights development novel drugs.
