The presence of an increasing number organic pollutants in water now poses serious risks to both human health and ecological systems. Many these are persistent non-biodegradable. contamination fresh by harmful substances has compelled researchers develop innovative, efficient, cost-effective remediation techniques materials. Thus, photocatalysis long been recognized as a promising approach tackle environmental the energy crisis. However, semiconductor photocatalysts frequently suffer from defects such photo-generated charge carrier recombination, poor visible light response, slow surface reaction kinetics, which can be remedied modifications with appropriate co-catalysts. Therefore, graphene its derivatives have widely used supports for semiconductors due their distinctive optical, physicochemical, electrical features. This critical review addresses current progress design synthesis graphene/semiconductor photocatalysts, well use photocatalytic degradation hydrogen production. Several influencing parameters addressed, including pH, photocatalyst loading, initial pollutant concentration, wavelength, oxidizing species, all could significant impact on rate pollutant's degradation. Furthermore, recyclability catalyst activity mechanisms thoroughly discussed. Numerous case studies systematically presented. Moreover, future prospects major challenges highlighted.

Water scarcity has been a global challenge for many countries over the past decades, and as result, reverse osmosis (RO) emerged promising cost-effective tool water desalination wastewater remediation. Currently, RO accounts >65% of worldwide capacity; however, membrane fouling is major issue in processes. Fouling reduces membrane's lifespan permeability, while also increases operating pressure chemical cleaning frequency. Overall, quality quantity desalinated water, thus hinders sustainable application membranes by disturbing its efficacy economic aspects. arises from various physicochemical interactions between pollutants materials leading to foulants' accumulation onto surfaces and/or inside pores. The current review illustrates main types particulates, organic, inorganic biological foulants, along with factors affecting formation development. Moreover, currently used monitoring methods, characterization techniques potential mitigation strategies are reviewed. Further, still-faced challenges future research on addressed.
