Borophene, a two-dimensional allotrope of boron, has emerged as promising material for gas sensing because its exceptional electronic properties and high surface reactivity. This review comprehensively overviews borophene synthesis methods, properties, applications. However, it is crucial to acknowledge the substantial gap between abundance theoretical literature limited experimental studies. While investigations have elucidated stability remarkable capabilities various polymorphs across different gases, significant challenges hindered translation these predictions into practical devices. Consequently, this carefully studies shortcomings that are jeopardizing implementation in real-world settings.
