ABSTRACT Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have emerged as potential alternatives to conventional antibiotics due their novelty and multiple mechanisms of action. Because they are peptides, AMPs amenable bioengineering suitable for cloning expression at large production scales. However, the efficient delivery is an unaddressed issue, particularly size, possible toxicities, development adverse immune responses. Here, we reviewed possibilities adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based localized gene treatment infectious diseases with a special focus on respiratory infections. By discussing mechanism AAV accompanying technical therapeutic challenges AMPs, describe foundation that emphasizes use viral vector-based disease treatment.

Due to huge diversity and dynamic competition, the human gut microbiome produces a diverse array of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) that play an important role in health. The has maintaining homeostasis by AMPs interacting with other organs via established connections such as gut-lung, gut-brain axis. Additionally, synergistic microbiota antimicrobials maintain fighting against multi-antibiotic resistance (MAR) bacteria. Further, conventional antibiotics intake creates evolutionary pressure for AMPs, where fight synergistically MAR. Overall, are evolving under complex highly co-evolutionary created various interactions between microbiota, antibiotics; however, complete mechanism is not well understood. current review explores action along possibilities MAR
