The impact of agricultural product branding on farmers’ income inequality: evidence from China DOI Creative Commons

Introduction Income inequality is related to farmers’ welfare, access and satisfaction. Addressing income among farmers particularly urgent as it growing. So, an important symbol of the development agricultural industry, what impact product branding on inequality? Methods To answer this question, paper uses panel data from 1986 counties in China 2000 2021 employs Recentered Influence Function (RIF) method explore (APB) its mechanism action. Results discussion The results study show that while APB boosted incomes by average 1.6%, they exacerbated 0.4% (using Gini coefficient example). Mechanistic analysis shows exacerbates widening gap between terms level adoption technology labor productivity. Heterogeneity reveals that, compared non-agricultural provinces, provinces reduces interregional inequality. Furthermore, grain category mitigates inequality, whereas cash crop aquatic categories it. livestock category, however, has no significant effect Considering these findings, government should regularly assess policies adjust a timely manner ensure their effectiveness fairness.
