This study elucidates the interrelationships among corporate governance disclosure index (CORPGOVDISCIN), bank sustainability characteristics (BSCs), bank-based climate change initiatives (BCCIs) and financial performance (FP) through lens of multi-theoretical framework. Based on a panel dataset 2785 observations (220 banks) from 16 Sub-Saharan Africa countries between 2007 2022, we observe that reporting framework (BSRF) board committee (BSCOM) are positively related to increased levels BCCIs. Second, shows BSRF-BCCIs BSCOM-BCCIs associations moderated by CORPGOVDISCIN, indicating these relationships contingent quality bank's mechanisms. Third, then provides evidence BSCOM is FP, but BSRF has no effect FP. Fourth, also BCCIs positive impact actual investments do not seem improve Fifth, detects association FP significantly CG We identify as possible channel which interlinked. Abstract Motivated by the growing attention on climate change, this study provides an up‐to‐date and comprehensive systematic literature review (SLR) small‐ medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs) carbon footprint reduction initiatives green jobs. Based datasets from databases that include Web of Science, Scopus, ProQuest Google Scholar, we conducted a SLR 70 published articles spanning 2012 to 2022. Using VOSviewer InfraNodus, bibliographic cluster analysis revealed existence three clusters namely; role job human resource management in SMEs (cluster 1); innovation, Initiatives, strategy circular economy 2); initiatives, performance, emission 3). We found adopt supply chain, employing energy‐saving strategies, eco‐friendly waste reductions recycling, economy, office practices. The results indicate these can lead creation since competences are required implement initiatives. However, value propositions relating within need be integrated with employee engagement.
