Purpose New quality productive forces (NQPF) are critical for high-quality economic development. As digital mergers and acquisitions (M&As) gain prominence in corporate transformation, understanding their impact on NQPF is essential. This study explores whether M&As enhance firms identifies key mechanisms that drive this effect. Design/methodology/approach investigates the of using a multi-period difference-in-difference (DID) methodology. Analyzing sample Chinese listed from 2011 to 2021, how contribute NQPF, identifying firm innovation data assets as mechanisms. It also examines external factors, such industrial structure, urban human capital policy uncertainty, moderate effect NQPF. Findings The reveals three findings: (1) Digital significantly NQPF; (2) serve through which (3) including amplify positive effects Practical implications Firms should leverage strategic tool improving focusing assets. Policymakers can support transformation by fostering an environment enhances Originality/value paper introduces novel index, offering comprehensive measurement concept. provides new insights into affect filling gap literature actionable recommendations policymakers.

Against the backdrop of global economic transformation and sustainable development, green technological innovation has become a core driver for enhancing national competitiveness addressing environmental challenges. With profound changes in production methods innovation, new quality productive forces (NQPF) have emerged as key innovation. This study aims to explore mechanisms through which NQPF influence Regional Green Technology Innovation (RGTI), with particular focus on mediating role intellectual property protection (IPP). Using panel data from 31 provinces China 2011 2022, we conduct an empirical analysis employing spatial Durbin model mediation effect model. The results indicate that significantly promote RGTI, particularly resource utilization efficiency greening processes. However, also identifies inverted U-shaped relationship between primarily driven by local dynamics, where positive diminishes after reaching certain threshold. Further reveals IPP plays crucial role, not only directly fostering but amplifying effects outcomes. Based these findings, this offers policy recommendations promoting emphasizing need strengthen support NQPF, improve mechanisms, build regional collaborative system.

The low-carbon transformation of an energy consumption structure (ECS) is related to the sustainable development society. New quality productivity (NQP) important means promote green ECS. This paper examines spatiotemporal evolution NQP and ECS, utilizing panel data from 30 Chinese provinces (2012–2020) through kernel density estimation spatial analysis methods. impact on ECS its spillover effects are empirically analyzed using a two-way fixed-effects model Durbin model. study reveals that in China generally positively correlated with although significant regional disparities exist. A positive correlation exists between significantly promotes local but exerts negative effect neighboring regions. Introduction The implementation of energy-consuming right trading (ECRT) policy in 2017 is a major measure to promote the construction ecological civilization and green development, which also aligns with global trend towards sustainable energy management carbon emission reduction. Methods Based on consumption data China from 2010 2021, this paper utilizes Difference-in-Differences (DID) method assess extent process impact consuming low-carbon transition structure. transmission mechanism industrial structure upgrading new-quality productive forces was discussed, regulatory role environmental regulations tested. Results findings indicate: 1) ECRT has strong driving effect 2) can through dual channel promoting new quality forces. 3) influence different regions, higher degree agglomeration renewable energy-rich regions are more significantly promoted by productivity. 4) Environmental regulation significant positive moderating relationship between 5) Furthermore, exploratory analysis reveals that impacts policies Transition translates into total factor productivity lower pollution, promotes development Discussion This responds basic question whether use rights structure, provides empirical evidence reference not only for China’s direction but international community’s efforts governance.
