Under the background of green development and brand building, this article aims to explore relationship between environmental regulation on corporate value mediating effect innovation, which can help enterprises build a synergistic mechanism building development, step into benign track high-quality development. Based institutional theory resource-based theory, paper takes 106 listed companies 2018–2022 consecutive list China’s 500 Most Valuable Brands as sample constructs two-way fixed-effects model test impact heterogeneous regulations innovation value. The empirical results showed that: (1) Command-based exhibits an inverted U-shaped with value, it compels adopt governance in short term but gradually erodes productive resources triggers negative reputational effects over long term; market-based demonstrates value: while crowds out production funds shifts costs consumers term, government’s “resource compensation” ultimately outweigh “compliance cost” pressures run; (2) plays partial role command-based value; (3) is terms nature ownership, life cycle, location. above findings provide useful reference for government use tools flexibly, optimally adjust regulatory mechanism, promote
