In response to the growing challenges posed by increasingly severe electromagnetic radiation environments and diverse personal thermoregulation requirements, development of wearable devices integrating interference (EMI) shielding thermal management functionalities has become critical for enhancing human comfort safety. Inspired hierarchical structure natural leaves, we present a multifunctional material composed MXene/polyaniline (PANI)/polydopamine (PDA) on flexible activated carbon fabric (ACC) substrate. This is fabricated through facile yet efficient mixed-dimensional assembly strategy, combining two-dimensional (2D) MXene nanosheets with one-dimensional (1D) PANI. The architecture mimics biological ACC serving as robust xylem-like substrate, PANI acting phloem-like supporting layer, forming protective outer layer. amino groups ( (−NH2) function binding sites, facilitating formation hydrogen bonds both PDA MXene, thereby interfacial adhesion mechanical stability. Furthermore, synergistic combination PANI's inherent conductivity MXene's exceptional electrical properties significantly improves overall conductive network fabric. resulting MXene/PANI/PDA@ACC (MPPA) demonstrates outstanding performance, including high (384.6 S/m), superior EMI effectiveness (average 45.81 dB), Joule heating (reaching 94 °C at 5 V), excellent camouflage capabilities (infrared emissivity 0.421). Notably, retains flexibility, durability, breathability, moisture permeability, ensuring even under complex environmental conditions. These combined position MPPA promising candidate next-generation technologies, addressing dual demands protection adaptive management.

Understanding the atomic-level mechanism of hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) on MXene materials is crucial for developing affordable HER catalysts, while their complex surface terminations present a substantial challenge. Herein, employing constant-potential grand canonical density functional theory calculations, we elucidate kinetics MXenes with various by taking experimentally reported Mo2C as prototype. We observe contradictory scenario when using conventional thermodynamic descriptor ΔGH* (hydrogen binding energy). Both competing phases that emerge close to equilibrium potential meet ∼ 0 criterion, they exhibit distinctly different kinetics. Contrary previous studies identified *O species active sites, our research reveals these sites are kinetically inert producing H2 but easily reduced H2O. Consequently, Mo atoms, exposed from rapid reduction species, serve actual catalyzing via Volmer–Heyrovsky mechanism, confirmed experimental studies. Our findings highlight overlooked role electrostatic repulsion in kinetics, factor not captured ΔGH*. This work provides new insights into and emphasizes importance kinetic investigations comprehensive understanding HER.
