This paper proposes a method to investigate the design properties of geotechnical seismic isolation (GSI). technique has been object many research contributions, both experimental and numerical. However, methods that may be used by practitioners for procedures are still unavailable. The formulation presented herein preliminary assessments two important properties: thickness shear wave velocity. Three-dimensional advanced numerical simulations were performed with state-of-the-art platform OpenSees in order verify analytical on benchmark case study. elongation ratio taken as relevant parameter discuss efficiency GSI decoupling soil from structure. main findings consist assessing dependency parameters: velocity layer. In this regard, novel was proposed make can practical applications.

The soil parameters of artificial foundations exhibit significant spatial variability due to particle sorting during the filling process, which follows a trend that is distinct from natural soft foundations. Based on this observation, non-stationary random field model proposed, in undrained shear strength decreases along horizontal direction and increases vertical deposition direction. impact bearing capacity pile analyzed discussed with Monte Carlo simulations. results indicate mean coefficient variation significantly affect ultimate foundations, whereas effects correlation distance are relatively minor. Under influence coefficient, between backfill entrance. Moreover, rate decrease diminishes linearly coefficient. A predictive formula for its applicability verified.
