This study investigates the process of isolating and characterizing cellulose from Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (OPEFB) fibers collected Sime Darby Plantation, Selangor. The OPEFB underwent a sequence chemical processes including dewaxing, alkali pretreatment bleaching, to isolate cellulose. resulting was analyzed for its composition, crystallinity yield hydrolysis products. Comparative analysis with recent studies indicates that content isolated falls within reported range, relatively lower lignin suggesting successful removal during treatments. index significantly increased after post-treatment, reaching 76.43%, which is higher than some values. yielded levulinic acid (LA) levels comparable commercial cellulose, OPEFB-based producing an LA 8.98% 9.73% highlights potential as viable source high-quality production sugars LA.
