Soil heavy metal contamination and sludge disposal have become globally environmental issues problems of great concern. Utilizing pyrolysis to produce biochar for remediating metal-contaminated soil is an effective strategy solve these two problems. In this study, municipal sewage papermaking were used as feedstock prepare co-pyrolyzed biochar, which was then applied reduce the toxicity Cd in soil. The results indicated that application significantly increased pH, CEC, enzyme activity, while decreasing content available Following 3% proportion acid-soluble decreased below 46%, facilitated conversion leachable stable oxidizable residual forms through precipitation complexation. DFT computational indicate aromatics can adsorb ions cation-π interactions, carboxyl, hydroxyl, aldehyde, amide groups provide more electrons adsorption ions, resulting stronger capacities. study findings a feasible solution resourceful treatment remediation
