This study examines the impact of workload demands on mental distress and job retention among healthcare workers (HCWs) handling mass fatalities during COVID-19 pandemic. We utilized a cross-sectional validated survey to collect self-reported data from 206 HCWs in United States between April May 2023. The measured various dimensions workload, including mental, physical, temporal demands, as well frustration, their effects intent leave job. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling was employed analyze relationships these variables, providing robust insights into direct indirect retention. Our findings reveal significant associations increased distress, which turn heightened Mental emerged critical mediator, linking decisions. highlights cycle understaffing intensification, exacerbated pandemics, contributes higher turnover rates. It underscores need for targeted interventions alleviate pressures, especially physical exertion associated with dead bodies. support can help improve HCWs’ health retention, ultimately enhancing resilience systems crisis situations.

ABSTRACT Narrative accounts have documented the potential for suffering to degrade a person's well‐being by undermining their sense of meaning in life, but few studies investigated this among nonclinical samples living non‐Western contexts Global South. Leveraging data from set three‐wave longitudinal with younger Indonesian (Study 1: Wave 1 [December 2020], 2 [January 2021], 3 [February 2021]; N = 620) and Colombian adults 2: [August/September [October/November 2022]; 2626), present research used causal mediation methods within counterfactual framework examine whether associations between (Wave 1) subsequent anxiety symptoms, depression general mental health 3) are mediated life 2). Abstract Background Depression and anxiety symptoms among medical students are often a concern. The Patient Health Questionnaire-Four (PHQ-4), an important tool for depression screening, is commonly used easy to administer. This study aimed assess update the longitudinal measurement invariance psychometric properties of simplified Chinese version. Methods A three-wave survey was conducted healthcare using PHQ-4. Structural validity based on one-factor, two-factor, second-order factor models, construct Self-Rated Questionnaire (SRHQ), Sleep Quality (SQQ), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), (LMI), internal consistency, test–retest reliability were structural consistency across three time points. Results results confirmatory analysis indicated that two-factor model best fit, LMI supported at Inter-factor, factor-total, correlations PHQ-4 acceptable. Additionally, Cronbach’s alpha, McDonald’s omega, intraclass correlation coefficient demonstrated acceptable/moderate excellent Conclusions adds new evidence version has promising properties. Such data lends confidence routine expanded use screening in students.

Anxiety and depression are psychiatric disorders that often coexist share some features. Developing a simple cost-effective tool to assess anxiety in the Arabic-speaking population, predominantly residing low- middle-income nations where research can be arduous, would immensely beneficial. The study aimed translate four-item composite Patient Health Questionnaire – 4 (PHQ-4) into Arabic evaluate its psychometric properties, including internal reliability, sex invariance, correlation with measures of psychological distress. 587 adults were recruited between February March 2023. An anonymous self-administered Google Forms link was distributed via social media networks. We utilized FACTOR software explore factor structure PHQ-4. Confirmatory analysis (CFA) indicated fit two-factor model PHQ-4 scores modest (χ2/df = .13/1 .13, RMSEA .001, SRMR .002, CFI 1.005, TLI 1.000). Internal reliability excellent (McDonald's omega .86; Cronbach's alpha .86). Indices suggested configural, metric, scalar invariance supported across sex. No significant difference found males females terms total scores, scores. score significantly moderately-to-strongly associated lower wellbeing higher Depression Stress Scale (DASS) subscales proves reliable, valid, for assessing symptoms related anxiety. To practical effectiveness further enhance data on construct validity, future studies should measure diverse contexts among specific populations.

Introduction Burnout and mental health among animal care professionals (ACHPs) has received increasing attention in recent years. Despite rapid growth of research this area, the wellbeing individuals who work and/or volunteer zoo settings minimal attention. Method An anonymous online survey was created to evaluate staff volunteers’ experiences animal-related loss, rates professional fulfillment burnout, health, perceived organizational support, resilience. Participants included 1695 (72% ACHPs, 20% other staff) volunteers (7%) were recruited through relevant listservs platforms, flyers on grounds. Results ACHPs reported higher levels anxiety, depression, burnout lower than volunteers. The most common losses experienced by past year unexpected death (80%) anticipated loss (74%), with more half these occurring within 3 months. ACHPs’ bond animals under their positively associated depression anxiety. Having a formal ritual or process following an job support negatively burnout—yet only 17% participants our sample indicated that had such ritual. Discussion Our findings suggest many are struggling low fulfilment support. We recommend zoos develop plans foster culture which normalizes validates grief/loss is proactive responding related trauma, occupational stressors. results demonstrate need for systemic changes industry, betterment welfare both humans care.

Patient selection: English-speaking adults with isolated proximal humerus, elbow, or distal radius managed operatively nonoperatively were included, those multiple fractures cognitive deficit excluded. Outcome measures comparisons: Incapability (Quick-DASH) intensity (11-point rating scale) measured at baseline, 2–4 weeks, 6–9 months injury. Cluster analysis was used to identify statistical groupings (PROMIS Depression Anxiety, Pain Catastrophizing Scale, Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia) (low/moderate/high based OTA/AO classification). The incapability each grouping assessed, accounting various fracture-related aspects. Introduction: The Perceived Stress Scale-4 (PSS-4) is an ultra-brief self-report measure to assess psychological stress. This study evaluated the psychometric properties of PSS-4 in Colombia. Method: A total 1,911 adult participants with a university education completed PSS-4. characteristics items and subscales were explored. dimensionality was assessed using principal component analysis confirmatory factor (CFA), incorporating examination invariance (configural, metric, scalar, strict) across socio-demographic characteristics. Construct validity (convergent discriminant), reliability indices, know-groups, predictive also computed. Results: CFA showed that one-factor model (psychological stress) method effects (correlated error terms on negative-phrased items) most appropriate according fit indices parsimony considerations, being invariant gender age, but not income level work status. Internal consistency adequate for Significant positive correlations identified depression anxiety, as well significant negative post-traumatic growth resilience. capacity predict potential depressive anxiety symptoms, protective factors such resilience growth. Higher scores observed among young people, people lower incomes those who are unemployed. Conclusions: These findings suggest can be reliable valid tool assessing stress Colombians education.
