Near-infrared (NIR) light allows fast and nondestructive detection with deep penetration into biological tissues is widely used in food inspection, biomedical imaging, night vision security, other fields. Cr3+-doped NIR first region (NIR-I) phosphors have many interesting features that attracted a lot of attention recently. However, practical issues, such as low photoluminescence quantum efficiency poor thermal stability, need to be addressed. We synthesized Lu2SrAl4SiO12 garnet-type using high-temperature solid-state reaction method. Under blue-light (@ 430 nm) excitation, the exhibited broadband NIR-I emission range 600–1000 nm, an peak at 710 nm. This system unique, had multipeak sharp-line superposition Cr3+ ions were situated relatively strong crystal field environment, opposed weak environment for matrix. The optimal doping content was 2 mol %, its internal ∼76.8%. Near-infrared phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes (NIR pc-LEDs), a widely used NIR light source, are typically prepared by sealing the phosphor powder and an LED chip with epoxy resin. One issue that pc-LEDs frequently encounter is aging deterioration of resin over time, which leads to self-absorption sharp decline in emission efficiency. Here, we report synthesis chemically stable luminescent material composed Cr3+-doped Ba2NaNb5O15 nanocrystals measuring 10-15 nm, Cr3+ ions located octahedral centers nanocrystals. Under 460 nm excitation, transparent glass-ceramic exhibited broadband range 600-1400 originated from electronic transition excited state 4T2 ground 4A2. The peak was at ∼810 FWHM ∼230 internal quantum efficiency reached ∼0.81%. We constructed pc-LED device using optimized NIR-emitting glass-ceramics commercially available blue chip, demonstrating its promising application night-vision lighting. Our study provides basis for preparation glass-ceramic-based devices as improved alternative solid-state illumination.
