A dark blue substrate-free pearlescent pigment based on belt-like VO2(B) (6.2 μm × 680 nm) was successfully fabricated using a two-step hydrothermal synthesis. The resulting exhibited an impressive effect, which is attributed to its morphology and smooth particle surface. Additionally, incorporated into poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) matrix assess compatibility. results demonstrated that adding 0.5 wt% imparted outstanding coloring properties.
